Today is my first day back at work full time. Grandmather (my mom) is here all week to watch the munchkin. Next week Daniel begins his paternity leave. So many changes...

Playing on the mat

Yesterday, Mather was playing on her mat and was able to lift her head up and look around the room from her tummy. She even almost turned herself over onto her back. We thought it was pretty cool!


The dangling toy Mather is staring at below has a mirror in it. Guess she's pretty vain...

Our New Schedule

Mike mentioned (in the comments section -- everyone should leave comments!) how he's noticed that Mather is becoming more and more expressive. I think these two photos certainly help confirm that...

While Mather is getting more interesting at home, Emily has finally been able to return to work, albeit in a limited role. For now, we're both working part time. Emily goes in for four hours in the morning, and then I go in to work in the afternoon.

This morning was my first morning alone with Mather. We had a great time. After she obediently dozed while I made coffee and ate breakfast, we went for a walk through the Panhandle and up to the top of Buena Vista Park. The scenery was spectacular -- the air was crisp, the sky clear, and from the top of the hill you could see out over the Pacific in one direction, across the Bay in the other while the Golden Gate Bridge linked the two. It was shiveringly cold, but Mather was warm and content snuggled up against my chest in a Baby Bjorn. She napped through most of the walk and didn't cry at all.

I'm looking forward to more beautiful mornings with her!

Two months

She's all smiles now!

O.K., that's a bit of an overstatement... but at least the smiling rewards us for the hard work of soothing the crying.

Two months marks the beginning of the immunization schedule. Mather received three shots and an oral vaccine at the doctor today. I was very proud of her, she gobbled up the oral vaccine and only squawked for a moment after the shots - she's a tough cookie, just like her mama!

Mather is another 1/4" taller (20.75") and she now weighs 9 pounds and 3 ounces.
