The Extending Family

We'll take a break from passing along Mather's recent milestones because we are so excited to welcome a new member of the family! My sister Elsa and her husband Chris are expecting their first child to be born in July. Elsa just recently started showing. I'm giddy about being an Uncle, and our parents are thrilled to become grandparents x2.

The new family member will be a Brooklyn native, and we're hoping to take a trip to New York this summer to spend some time with our new nephnieceling*.

*Elsa and Chris do not intend to find out their child's gender before the birth.

2007 Wrap Up

The Ransom family enjoyed a wonderful end to 2007!

GrandMather traveled up from Southern California to join us for a few days. We all gathered at the home of the Grandparents Ransom for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Here are some favorite moments:

Papasan and Miss Magoo enjoy the tree on Christmas Eve.

Goobie stole an ornament!

At the piano... then and now.

Christmas morning we have breakfast and open our stocking gifts.
Mather is enjoying her Downey Street puppy. Since puppy is one of her favorite words, we thought she ought to have a puppy up the hill.

Much bigger than a puppy, but just as easy to pronounce... pony!

Mather got into the spirit of unwrapping gifts.

Hooray for toys!!

And musical instruments too!

After Christmas, we flew out to Las Vegas to spend a week with Grandpa Cary and Sheryl. I invited my best girlfriends, Anastasia and Raleigh, to join me in celebrating my 30th birthday. Dad and Sheryl were spectacular hosts and wonderful babysitters... we headed out for several late nights and pretended we were young again.

The girls ready for a night out.

We did a little gambling in the old downtown and I sang my first karaoke on my birthday... Love Shack, baby! Dad and Sheryl gave us tickets to Cirque du Soleil's production of Mystere, our first Cirque show. It was quite the extravaganza, a mix of clowning, spectacle and acrobatics both silly and sweet -- with a dash of spice. Mather had fun too. Who knew that putting a booster seat on the floor could keep a kid so happy?

Repeat, ad nausem.

Oh, and Mather got what she really wanted for Christmas: her two front teeth! The girl loves to eat, and now she can actually chew her food...

Sweet Music

Once again, it has been far too long since our last post. The holidays were busy and we had a wonderful time, both at my parent's house for Christmas (where we were joined by Grandmather), and in Las Vegas visiting Cary and Sheryl for Emily's birthday.

There will be more posts to come, with all of the predictably amusing pictures of Mather unwrapping gifts and so on, but I had to post to pass along two things: 1st, Mather took her first steps last night. Three of them. 2nd, the picture below. It's just such a great shot!
